Two for One!

I am excited for the wonderful weekend ahead of me!
I get a two for one on this weekend!
My son is getting married and then we get to celebrate the 4th of July!
27 years ago I couldn't have
imagined where we'd be now- from
his first steps, college and now these
steps down the aisle!
It's going to be a great day!
We couldn't be happier for the
two of them and are looking
forward to this great day!
This is a picture from the place the
reception will take place..
There any many options on how to
decorate it- It's absolutely huge!
Of course if you know me, you know I am
enthused about the grounds and all
the beautiful shrubs and flowers they
have to enjoy.  They'll probably have
to sound a horn to get me back inside
and stop touring the grounds!
The cool thing about this place is it's loaded
with photo opportunities

So this will be what I am
doing on Saturday....
Then we celebrate the 4th of July and
our country's independence!
You're a grand old flag,
You're a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of
The land I love.
The home of the free and the brave.

Ev'ry heart beats true
'neath the Red, White and Blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag.
Have a joyous holiday weekend I know I will!

Deck Decorating & Updating

I'm Linking up with the blog party at Savvy Southern Style

We were in need of some updating so this year we purchased new cushions for our lawn furniture because our old set had started to fall apart. My difficulty was finding colors that would work with our pewter metal finished furniture.  I finally found this print and felt lucky because everything is geared towards decorating with the bronze toned furniture.

We also had to find an umbrella and I never thought I'd be buying a black one but I did!
Recently we added a window box which I am loving!
I decorated this tray with an eclectric group of items. Most of it was purchased at Hobby Lobby in their clearance section.  The tray alone was only $2.40... since it's going to be outdoors I didn't want anything I paid a lot for and would worry about how it will take the weather.

I added moss to it to pull it together.
I found this bird cage at Michaels- added some moss to it too- there is a little center cup for a candle votive.
This stone looking footed bowl was on discount too as well as the candle ($2.40)
I had these flower pots on the glass table tops but I didn't like the constant water stains, so I brought these metal stands up on the deck and I'm happy with the results!
This large planter has taken off nicely and makes a really bright impact on the deck which I love.
I love to use planters to help decorate!
We made this deck large (14 x 28) when we had it re-built back in the 90's and it's used a lot in the summer months.  I consider outside areas like this to be an extension of my home and I enjoy decorating it!  Do you like to decorate your outdoor areas?

Inspiration from another blogger!

Inspiration from another blogger's post!

I saw this picture on Vignette Design's
recent post and it sparked an idea for me.
As soon as I saw the moss in this picture
with the small clay pot I was inspired
A while ago I bought this bowl at Pier 1
Imports for a display I had in a cabinet.
Since then I've made changes and the
bowl has been floating around looking for
a home!  I recently acquired this little
faux plant from Pottery Barn but hadn't
decided where it was going to be put.
When I saw the moss it inspired me to
merge the new plant with this bowl
and use the moss to accessorize it!
I went to my little box of deco
accessories where I had a bag of
sponge moss * pieces......
I placed some moss on the bottom to
raise the little pot higher and then filled
in the sides with the moss!
*I think it's actually called Reindeer Moss
I set it in my kitchen window and with the
sunlight on it you'd think it was real!
