Shopping Your House

I've been snowed in here (literally) and have been looking  for things to keep me busy so I decided to "shop" my own house and create some new space and add some different accents to the livig room.

I pulled a couple of items from my office.
Visit "My office- previous post " to see where they were before.

I brought back my game table which had been put in storage downstairs for a while. I slid the chest back over to the corner window creating a little nook.

Since there's no lamp on this table I thought I'd try my cloche out which I've also pulled from the office.

I brought back these two green porcelain pieces that I've had for about 7 yrs.  They work really well with this lamp (a mark down that I got them to reduce it a bit more when I pointed out a flaw on the finish.  Sometimes it pays to open your mouth!  I always say it doesn't cost a dime to ask a question!
Moving the sofa forward created a more personal space.

I like this comfy cluster.  Plenty of room yet cozy!

So there you have my new lay out and new/old deco accents!
Now what else can I get myself involved with??
Oh yes...laundry! Woohoo!

  1. Shopping the house is always fun. You did a great job. I like the changes you made. More cold weather is forecast here over the next couple days.

  2. I love shopping my house too, it definitely comes in handy with the wild weather we have up here in the Midwest! You have such a great space, love the light you get from all those wonderful windows.

  4. I like the new look!! It's nice that you can reuse things you've had in storage, I'm really bad about not hanging onto things. Sure hoping February is kinder to you than January has been. Think Spring!

  6. I wish I could work up the nerve to request a discount, but it's so hard for me!! I don't know why...I don't have much trouble speaking up about everything else!!! :-) :-) :-)

I'm so sorry you are still snowed in! I'm "winded in" here with winds gusting up to 60 mph and wind chills around -15 yet again today. But you have given me a fantastic idea: go shopping at home!!! I haven't done that for a long time now, and it will be fun! Even though I have everything catalogued, there's still nothing like looking through storage and actually seeing & touching things that haven't been used in a long time.

I like the cozier seating space you have created! You really do have an eye!!!

I'll be busy with laundry today, too, but at least I can break it up with all the home shopping! :-)

  9. Sorry you're snowed in, it's been so cold, but nothing like you're dealing with up there! Shopping the house and moving things around is a great way to pass the time. Love the game table where it is, and the new cozy arrangement.

  11. Well, at least you had a lot more fun than the laundry!! I love redecorating and it is so fun to just move things around! I just "found" a huge cloche that I had bought for my daughter's new place but it was to big for her so when changing over from Christmas it got put front and center. The best part was she didn't remember that we had bought it for her!!

  12. The room looks so pretty. I love that monkey under the cloche. You're right, the seating arrangement looks so cozy and comfortable. The game table looks like it would also be a great place to sit for dinner or lunch. laurie

  14. That looks great, Liz. I really like a nice conversational area and you have created that here. That gaming table is a gorgeous piece and what a perfect spot for it. Great for games...well, except for Twister-that wouldn't work there!;>) xo Diana

  15. I don't need any more things, so when I get the urge to redecorate I shop the house. It's amazing how moving things around makes such a difference. Good job doing just that.

  20. It really does look very cozy and inviting, Liz! Rearranging and reusing what I have in different ways is so much fun and gives rooms a lot more character than just going out and buying matching stuff!
