Seashells, Stripes and Sailboats

Imagine yourself living by the seashore and enjoying an early evening of dining with friends out on your patio overlooking a sandy beach on the ocean.

Squint your eyes and pretend along with me!

Seashells outline the chargers and stripes add to the nautical feel....
Sailboats lined up along the border of this tea towel made by Mierco

The cobalt blue stemware came from Pier 1 a while back- clearance section

The lantern was also from Pier 1.  We'll pretend the seashells have been collected along the beach and stuffed in the lantern.

The men's shirt striped tablecloth is by Ralph Lauren- found at Home Goods.  I've been looking for a way to use it!

Life preserver napkin rings from Sur La Table.  The striped napkins are from Pottery Barn- last year.

These dishes are called "By The Sea" by David Carter Brown for Sakura

I've always loved lighthouses and I found these on Ebay

I used the light aqua plates again because I like the color they bring out for these ocean, beach or nautical tablescapes.

The striped plates came from One King's Lane but don't have a maker's name on them.  The chargers are from a small store's clearance section.  I liked how each seashell was tied on and the interesting woven design they have.

Time to Dine!
Ok you can un-squint your eyes now!

  2. Liz, I love it! I was eyeing those lifesaver napkin rings a few weeks back when they were on sale. Kicking myself that I didn't buy them. Love everything about this table including the lantern and those cute lighthouse plates. The stripped tablecloth and napkins are perfect with this setting! I'm sure I heard waves crashing on the beach and seagulls calling overhead just now! :) Positive!

  6. No need to squint - your tablescape is so nautically beautiful, it definitely takes you to the shoreline all on its own! You have so many fabulous dishes/linens and accents and you've combined them wonderfully. I especially love that you've layered all the different stripe patterns and it "works" - something like that always scares me. Going back to "pin"...

  7. Liz, you've outdone yourself!! This table is GORGEOUS!!! Each element is well thought-out and they all work so well together! I don't think I would have thought to put those aqua plates with the lighthouse plates but they do bring out the 'ocean' color in them!! The lantern in the dusky light looks so romantic! Great job, friend!! Z

  11. Liz,
Love, LOVE, L O V E your lighthouse dishes, dear friend!!!
Most all my life I have lived on the Prairie. . ."land locked".
But for a short time, "Mr. Ed" and I lived in Aberdeen, MD
and we ventured to the Bay. . .I enjoyed the waves crashing about.
My heart and soul belong on the Prairie, but I enjoyed reminiscing
with your seashells ~ stripes ~ and sailboats tablescape!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  13. So I missed this one back in 2015 because I was still recuperating. I can see why it's one of your favorites, especially with that tablecloth! I love patterns that resemble fine menswear. They're just an understated kind of cool.
